Last year Xiaomi launched the Mi Note 2, which was a wildly successful device in China. Now reports are emerging that Xiaomi is working on updating the device to 2017 specification, the new device will be called the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and will feature more premium and upgraded specification when compared to the recently launched Xiaomi flagship the Mi 6.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is set to launch sometime in June and will be the first device to run MIUI 9, the upgraded software user experience to the popular MIUI 8. According to the reports, MIUI 9 will bring a lot of new features as well as improvements in performance.
Some of the features in the MIUI 9 include multi-windows, optimised app notifications with more control, quick reply etc that we have already seen on Android 7.0 and on the upcoming Android O developer preview.
Specifications
Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is rumoured to sport a 5.7-inch Curved Dual edge display manufactured by Samsung. The resolution will be Quad HD (1440p). Under the hood, there will be the flagship chipset from Qualcomm namely the Snapdragon 835. There will be two memory variants, one with 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage and another one with 8GB, yes you read that right, 8GB of RAM along with 256GB of internal storage.

Camera
There will be two rear cameras although how they will be implemented is still unknown along with their resolution. However, if reports are to be believed, the camera on the Mi Note 3 will be similar to what we saw on the Mi6 Xiaomi’s flagship device.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 had two 12 MP sensors at the back, one with a wide-angle lens with Optical Image Stabilisation and another one with a telephoto lens for 2x Zoom. There will be a non-removable 4070mAh battery with quick-charge 4.0. The battery promises up to 50% of charge in 15 minutes. We saw a similar battery on the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 as well albeit with quick charge 3.0
To refresh our memory, the Mi Note 2 features a 5.7-inch curved Dual edge display with Full HD (1080p) resolution. Under the hood, a Snapdragon 821 will power the device. It will be coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM along with 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The device featured a 22.5MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, EIS, PDAF along with Dual-tone LED flash. It also had an 8 MP front-facing camera for selfies. It too featured a 4070mAh battery.
As per the leak, the Mi Note 3 will be priced at US$ 599 for the 6GB RAM 128GB ROM variant. And, the more premium 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant will cost US$ 699 which is Rs. 39,000 and Rs. 45,000 respectively. Earlier the price was rumoured to be around US$ 750.
If the Mi note 3 is launched with these leaked specifications, it will be one of the most powerful phones to come out from Xiaomi. The chances of the Mi Note 3 coming to India are slim but we really would love to see the phone launch in the Indian market as well.
