Rumours are not new. They have been with us everywhere. Every day one gets to hear something new. As always a new rumour has just surfaced which claims that Sony is going to launch a new flagship this year at IFA tradeshow in Berlin.
It seems that the handset will show up with an almost bezel-less display. It is expected to have JDI’s recently-introduced 18:9 display. This is supposed to be a joint venture by Hitachi, Sony and Toshiba. It is pretty much believed that Sony might use 6-inch, narrow panel in the upcoming smartphone. One can expect a phablet here, but one can’t judge how narrow the display will be and how thin the bezels will allegedly be.
At Mobile World Congress (MWC)
This unknown and mysterious device is expected to become Sony’s second flagship for 2017 after the Sony Xperia XZ Premium was unveiled way back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
Sony has a way with its design which people are used to. It is nothing short of a great challenge in front of the company to make this envisioned phone a reality. The materials used are metal and glass. Also, the fingerprint scanner will probably be placed on the back, beneath the display or on the side, which Sony is accustomed to.
Some of their smartphones have featured a side-facing fingerprint scanner or a fingerprint scanner implemented in the power/lock key.
Much is not clear yet as the source hasn’t revealed anything about the specifications of this speculated flagship phone. One can only do the guesswork as things related to display have been spoken about. Probably, the phone will ship with the Snapdragon 835 64-bit Octa-core processor. One can also expect to see Sony Mobiles with 4GB RAM or 6GB of RAM on the inside. Android Nougat will come pre-installed on the phone with Sony’s custom user interface on the top of it.
To recall, Sony has launched its Xperia XZ Premium smartphone last month in India. The phone is priced at Rs. 59, 999. It sports a 19MP motion eye camera. It is dust and water resistant and stands out for its 5.5-inch display.
The concept of bezel-free flagship phones is intriguing and rumour is all involving. One can only be expected to have the patience to witness this upcoming flagship.
