Samsung Galaxy C10 Leaked: Could it be Samsung’s foray into dual camera smartphones?

Samsung had recently launched its flagship phone the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ which had been very well received by the users all over the world, the only gripe people had about the latest flagships from Samsung was the lack of dual camera set up which most of its competitors had been offering since 2016. To take away the woes of their fans, Samsung could come up with a new offering, the Samsung Galaxy C10 which is rumoured to boast a dual rear camera setup.

Dual rear camera set up has been on a rise since its launch on the LG G5 last year and ever since we have seen better and different implementations of it on various phones like Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Honor 6X, LG G6 etc. Samsung is expected to join the dual camera bandwagon with its flagship the Galaxy Note 8 later this year however according to the latest leak a C series phone can beat the Galaxy Note 8 to it.

Leaked Specifications

Earlier during May, a rough sketch popped up in China showing a Samsung phone with dual rear cameras but there wasn’t enough information about it, now a new image of the alleged Samsung Mid-Ranger has popped up on Weibo which shows the rear panel of the C10 sporting dual camera set up.

The phone is seen in rose gold colour and has text over it saying that it is the Samsung Galaxy C10 first dual camera Smartphone from Samsung. The body seems to be made of metal and looks like a unibody design has been employed, the 2 cameras are placed vertically and the Samsung branding appears below them.

The phone in the image has antenna lines passing on the top of the phone and a button is present to the right of the phone possibly the power button, the Galaxy C10 is also rumored to have a Bixby button like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. However, there is no fingerprint sensor seen on the back which brings us to a logical conclusion that the Galaxy C10 will have the front mounted fingerprint sensor which will double up as a physical home button as we have already seen on other Samsung ‘C’ series devices.

The phone in the leaked image follows the design guideline previously seen on other ‘C’ series smartphones but the authenticity of the image cannot be confirmed. The ‘C’ series of devices is an ambitious line-up which always tries to punch above its class so it won’t be a surprise to see a ‘C’ device get the dual camera set up before a flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy C10 may also have another variant the Galaxy C10 Plus. The Galaxy C10 is supposed to be a device with a 6-inch screen and it will be interesting to see how Samsung differentiates between the regular C10 and the C10 plus.

There is no information as of now as to what hardware would the Galaxy C10 boast. Although, if we may speculate, the phone would have a 6 inch full HD display, a Snapdragon 660 clocked at 2.2 GHz running the show underneath the hood along with 6 GB of RAM as seen on the OnePlus 3T. The Snapdragon 660 does support up to two 16-megapixel dual cameras with 4K video recording so the possibility of it being used in the C10 is high.

The Galaxy C series was a China exclusive until recently but it has gradually expanded into India with the launch of C7 and C9 Pro, so the C10, whenever launched, has a good chance of hitting the Indian shores too.The C10 is expected to launch in the near future and I’d guess it would be priced in the vicinity of Rs. 40,000 which would roughly be 4000 Chinese Yuan or about 550 USD.
