Reliance Jio is long rumoured to bring low budget feature phone with 4G VoLTE support priced between Rs 999 and Rs 1,500. If the recent reports are believed, the company is working on a 4G VoLTE mobile and the feature phone will cost Rs 1,499. The Jio feature phone was published by Gadgets360 and it mentioned that the news has been received from an anonymous tipster.
Currently, no other detail of the alleged Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone is received yet from any trusted source. However, the report included an image of the supposed feature phone which shows an alphanumeric keyboard with four shortcut buttons under the display having access to MyJio, JioCinema, JioTV, and JioMusic app.
The earlier reports about the upcoming Jio 4G VoLTE feature phone suggested that the phone will come with Spreadtrum chipset. The reports also claimed that Jio is in discussion with chipset giants like MediaTek and Qualcomm for its budget 4G VoLTE enabled chipsets.
Moreover, the report also indicated that the phone will have both front and primary rear cameras. However, the recently leaked image doesn’t show any front camera. Interestingly, two Reliance Jio feature phones are expected to come in Indian market at an ultra budget segment. Though, it is still unknown when the company will launch its 4G VoLTE feature phones.
The arrival of Reliance Jio in the Indian telecom sector has created an enormous turbulence, as the major smartphone manufacturers are hurrying to release VoLTE-enabled smartphones and rival telcos are offering competitive voice and data plans.
The Reliance Industries has recently announced its Q3 financial and operational performance report which revealed that Reliance Jio has reached over 72.4 million subscribers till December 31, 2016. The company also stated that 2.8 million LYF mobiles and accessories were sold by Reliance Retail in the quarter.
Recently several reports were claiming that the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm may announce a new tariff plan. The new plan will be valid until June 30, 2017. If the reports are to be believed, the latest introductory offer will offer data services at a price of about Rs 100, whereas the voice calls will be completely free.
