Vaio used to be Sony’s PC division from the early 2000s till 2014. Three years ago, Sony sold off its VAIO brand and ever since, the brand never re-appeared. Now, the company has announced a brand-new Android mobile called as the Vaio Phone A in Japan for a price of 24,800 Yen (roughly Rs 14,800). The latest mobile will be open for pre-orders in Japan from March 30, while it will be available on April 7 in the country.
This is not the first time when Vaio entered into the smartphone space, as the company had released a Windows 10 based smartphone called as the Vaio Phone Biz in 2016. The latest mobile resembles with Phone Biz in term of appearance. Moreover, the Phone A smartphone has the same set of specifications as of the Phone Biz except for the operating system. The Vaio Phone A will be available in Silver colour option.
The Vaio Phone A features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display and flaunts an aluminium body. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, Adreno 405, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and microSD card for further storage expansion.
On the camera front, the device offers a 13MP primary rear camera alongside a 5MP front facing the camera. The smartphone include connectivity options Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS/A-GPS. It measures dimensions at 156x77x8.3mm and weighs 167 grams.

To recall, the Vaio Phone Biz smartphone was launched last year in February. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The handset measures dimensions at 156.1x77x8.3mm.
The Vaio Phone Biz runs on Windows 10 OS and supports 4G networks. Other connectivity option includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and micro USB port. The sensor on board includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass magnetometer. The Vaio mobile packs a 2800mAh battery. For photography, there is a 13MP primary rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Vaio Phone Biz was launched in Japan at a price equivalent of $430 (roughly Rs 29,000).
