While the Honor 8 received the Android Nougat update, Huawei seems to bring a new smartphone under its Honor brand. The upcoming mobile is expected to be the Honor 9. According to the latest report, the Honor brand could get a new flagship device in coming months.
The upcoming Honor mobile was listed on TENNA certification site. The mysterious Honor smartphone is listed with a model number DUK-TL30 which has passed the TENNA certificate. As the smartphone has recently cleared the certification, it is believed that it will come soon.
However, the listing missed the name of the smartphone alongside the model number. Due to this, it is not confirmed whether the alleged device will come as the Honor 9 or any other handset under this brand name.
Since the Honor 8 was launched last year in July and it already updated with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat version, the chances of launching a successor may not be a good thought. Therefore, the Honor DUK-TL30 could be an entirely different smartphone and not Honor 9.
The rumours are suggesting that the Honor 9 smartphone will feature many enhancements over the existing Honor 8. The leaks suggest that the upcoming Honor handset will be equipped with a 2.4GHz Kirin 960 octa-core processor compared to the Honor 8 handset which sports a Kirin 950 chipset.
The anonymous mobile with a DUK-TL30 model number will be having a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) display as per the TENNA listing. The handset will come with a 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage alongside external storage option of up to 128GB via microSD card. The device will be powered by a 3900mAh battery. It will offer a dedicated fingerprint sensor at the rear panel. It is a dual-SIM mobile with Bluetooth 4.1 and 4G LTE capabilities.
The Honor DUK-TL30 device will feature a dual-camera setup with 12MP+2MP camera lenses with LED flash. Up front, it will have an 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone will measure dimensions at 157×77.5×6.97mm and weighs 184 grams.
Interestingly, Huawei has scheduled an event at the MWC 2017 on February 26. However, whether the anonymous Honor device will be announced along with the rumored Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphone is still unknown.
