Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has been almost exclusively online till now and catered to only the customers online selling via major online retailers but now it looks like they have changed this strategy and have launched the Honor 8 Lite in India exclusively offline. The phone is priced at Rs. 17,999 and aims to capture some more market share for the company.
The company aims at getting minimum 10% market share in the Indian market by the end of 2017 in the smartphone segment. By this move, we can infer that they will shift their focus from exclusively online to a mixture of online and offline. This can be a beneficial move on the part of the company as a major number of purchases still happen in the traditional offline channels.
Huawei’s aim is to maintain the absolute balance between online and offline sales. Vice President of Sales at Huawei India ,P Sanjeev, said that the company has launched its first Honor products via the offline channels in the Chinese market. The same model is going to replicate in the Indian market as well, Sanjeev added.
