Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - First Impression
Pricekart
24th August, 2017

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 8 to the world Wednesday. Its display is the first thing you notice about the phone. The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a huge leap from last year’s Galaxy Note 7. The biggest change is the looks. The phone displays a 6.3-inch Quad-HD (1440×2960 pixels) AMOLED Infinity Display. It’s a very big phone, one of the biggest in the market, 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and featuring a huge 6.3-inch screen. The Note 8 arrives with the S-Pen stylus. It’s actually a digital pen, which you can use to write and draw on the phone’s screen. The screen is set up for multitasking.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 offers a dual rear camera setup comprising two 12MP camera sensors with f/1.7 wide-angle lens + f.2.4 telephoto lens and OIS. The telephoto lens has a 2x optical zoom feature. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter with f/1.7 aperture. The Note 8 has a button for Bixby, Samsung's voice assistant. The phone packs a 3300mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive and visually appealing smartphones around.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 hands-on
26th August, 2017

The Note 8 is a gorgeous slab of curved metal and glass. It looks a lot like the S8, but it’s more straight-edged – more businesslike – and the curved screen is steeper to aid S-Pen note-taking. The Infinity Display is even bigger at 6.3 inches, and it continues to make bezel-heavy devices feel old-fashioned by comparison. The Note 8 is slightly larger on all fronts and difficult to use with one hand.Samsung has another gorgeous phone on its hands. The only potential issue with the Note 8’s specs will be its slightly small battery. The 3300mAh cell offers less capacity can barely get through a full day of hard usage on the S8+, and considering the Note 8 has an even bigger screen and more RAM, it could be a struggle.

The QHD+ AMOLED display is stunning. The other big change is on the rear of the device. The S-Pen will be useful to some – it just isn’t for me – and the more straight-edge design with steeper curves will appeal to those who find the S8 too curvy.Samsung has jumped on the dual-camera bandwagon, popping a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor next to the already excellent wider-angle 12-megapixel sensor from the Galaxy S8.You can quickly jump to ‘2x’ zoom in the camera app, and from there access a Live Focus mode for achieving that blurry background bokeh effect. But what is certain is that Samsung has another gorgeous phone on its hands.

  • Good Camera
  • S-pen
  • Water and dust resistant
  • Awesome display
  • Small Battery

Hands on: Samsung Galaxy Note 8 review - The world’s best phone, but bigger and more powerful
25th August, 2017

The Galaxy Note 8 has the biggest version of this display yet seen, with a 6.3-inch QHD+ offering that just looks sublime. You're really just picking up a screen with the phone attached somewhere on the back. The design of the phone complements the display well. The buttons all protrude well enough to be easily clicked, and weirdly for a phone of this size, it didn't feel too cumbersome in the palm. However, when it comes to design choices, we're disappointed that Samsung has maintained its stance of putting the fingerprint scanner on the back next to the camera. The 3300mAh power pack just feels too small for a phone that has these specs.

We also really liked the ability to still see the wide-angle 'normal' photo when you've shot a snap in Live Focus, as it gives you the chance to find a better picture in what you've pictured. With one sensor on the rear taking wide-angle, f/1.7 images and one taking zoomed f/2.4, you should be able to get good low-light performance from the Note 8, as well as being able to take a wide range of styles of the photo.the most useful thing is that the Samsung has offered the S Pen.The Galaxy Note 8 should really be known as the phone that brings Bixby, Samsung's digital assistant.

  • Strong camera
  • Beautiful screen
  • SO expensive
  • Easily-smudged rear
