Moto Z2 Play Launched in India: What Are The Biggest Improvements since Moto Z Play?
9th June, 2017

The Moto Z2 Play is powered by an advanced 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, an option to expand storage via microSD card slot. On the contrary, the Moto Z Play boasts a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and external storage option via microSD card. The biggest change in Moto Z2 Play is its 12MP primary rear camera. The Moto Z Play featured a 16MP rear camera which is slightly better on paper. However, the megapixel count is not that important when it comes to photography. What matters is the camera sensor size, camera output, and others. On the other hand, the rear camera on the Moto Z Play supports autofocus, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture.

Motorola Moto Z2 Play Review
16th June, 2017

On the front is the 5.5-inch display surrounded by sizable bezels. The bezels here are quite substantial, especially at a time when other brands are actively trimming down. The white model, in particular, has distractingly large bezels dominating the front.Above the display are a bunch of things, starting with a dual two-tone LED flash on the left, the earpiece in the middle, proximity and ambient light sensors next to it and the camera lens on the extreme right. Motorola also felt the need to squeeze its logo in here, which makes the top look even more cluttered on the white model.

The Moto Z2 Play has a 3000mAh battery, which is quite a step down from last year's 3500mAh. the Moto Z2 Play ships with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, which is about as good as it can get right now. As is usual for Motorola phones, the level of customization done here is minimal and is mostly for the good.

  • TubroCharging support
  • Expandable storage
  • Incredible battery life
  • Poor display sunlight visibility
  • Weak graphics performance

Motorola Moto Z2 Play review:Moto Z2 Play's battery will stay awake longer than you
10th June, 2017

Strong battery life, clever software, and magnetic Mod add-ons make the Motorola Z2 Play a compelling midrange choice. The Z2 Play's 12-megapixel camera (with an f1.7 aperture and dual-autofocus pixels) took bright, colorful, detailed photos.Photos from the 5-megapixel front-facing camera are totally decent, but not as crisp and detailed as they are on some other phones. Background color and detail also suffered compared to lenses that fit in more of the scene more crisply.

The Z2 Play also has a powerful flash that'll make your eyes water if you forget to turn it off in a dark setting. You can shoot 4K video on this phone, but clips default to 1080p resolution at 30fps (you can also shoot at 60fps).Motorola gave the Z2 Play a good processor that, though not cutting-edge, kept everything from basic navigation to games like Riptide Renegade running smoothly. Though it scored on the lower end of our benchmark graphics test (3D Mark -- Ice Storm Unlimited), I didn't notice a lag time while browsing, scrolling and generally getting things done.

  • Beautiful screen
  • All-day battery life
  • Expandable storage
  • Lots of software tricks and even a headphone jack
  • Software feature doesn’t always work
  • Z Play had much longer battery life
