Xiaomi India has recently launched the next generation of its Redmi Note series in the country. The company has launched it’s Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone at an event in New Delhi. Along with the latest phones, the company also introduced the Mi TV 4 series in India. Both smartphone models share similar hardware specifications with a few significant differences.
The new Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will be available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart. The key features of both devices are the selfie-light module, bigger 18:9 display, and larger 4000mAh battery. Moreover, a Face Unlock feature is said to be offered on the device via OTA update.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Note 5 Pro: Price
Pricing for the latest Redmi Note 5 models starts at Rs 9,999 and goes up to 11,999. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro model pricing starts at Rs 13,999 and goes up to Rs 16,999. Both models will be available in Gold, Black, Lake Blue, and Rose Gold colour options from February 22.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Specifications
The Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. The phone runs on MIUI 9 skin which is based on Android Nougat OS. Under the hood, there is a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. There is an Adreno 506 GPU which handles graphics on the device. The fingerprint scanner is offered on the rear panel.
On the camera front, there is a 12MP primary rear camera with a 1.25-micron pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, PDAF and EIS. Also, there is a 5MP selfie snapper which comes with LED selfie-light. For storage, the device has 32GB and 64GB options to choose from. A 4000mAh battery completes the package.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Specifications
The Pro variant comes with a few advancements over the original model. There is a 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) display with2.5D curved glass, 18:9 aspect ratio, and 450nit brightness. The handset comes equipped with a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 509 GPU, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
For photography, there is a dual rear camera setup of 12MP + 5MP sensors. Up front, there is a 20MP camera which is ideal for selfies and video calling. Previously, Xiaomi was rumoured to launch the Redmi Note 5 Plus along with Redmi Note 5. Instead, the company chose the Note 5 Pro model.
