Xiaomi has recently unveiled the successor to its Mi Max phablet which was launched last year. At a launch event in China, the company launched its Xiaomi Mi Max 2 device and announced the key specifications, release date, and price of the latest mobile in its home country. However, the company didn’t mention its plans to introduce the new device in international markets including India.
The highlight feature of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is its massive screen size and an enormous battery capacity similar to the original Xiaomi Mi Max model. This time, the company has offered the stereo speakers, fine-tuned one-handed mode, and updated design on the device.
The Mi Max 2 will be made available in China from June 1 in two models- 64GB storage variant priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs 16,000) and a top model with 128GB storage priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs 18,850).
Specifications
Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a huge 6.44-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display similarly as its predecessor. Another highlight of the device is its large 5300mAh battery. It is powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. For storage it supports 64GB/128GB of internal storage, and up to 128GB of external storage via microSD card. The handset runs on Android Nougat OS powered by MIUI 8.

Camera
For photography, the Mi Max 2 offers a 12MP primary rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF support. The sensor present on the device is Sony’s IMX386 sensor with 1.25-micron pixels which is competent to capture good images in different lighting situations. Additionally, up front, there will be a 5MP selfie snapper.
Xiaomi has claimed that the new Mi Max 2 smartphone can be easily used one-handed thanks to the new software features which have improved the usability. On the design front, the company has utilised discreet antenna lines on the device which resembles with iPhone 7. Moreover, the device opted for rounded edges for providing better hand feel.

Other Features
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a dedicated fingerprint scanner on the rear panel of the device. There is also an inbuilt IR blaster on the device. The company claims the IR blaster to act as the universal remote control for electronic items like televisions and air conditioners. The device also supports Quick Charge 3.0 which is believed to charge the device up to 68 percent within one hour. Furthermore, the company is claiming two-days of battery life on the device.
