The Japanese phone maker, Sony is rumoured to be working on a new smartphone called as Sony Pikachu. The alleged smartphone was recently spotted on GFXBench website with few of its specifications. No details about the release and availability of the Sony Pikachu smartphone are known at present.

The GFXBench listing revealed that the Sony Pikachu smartphone will feature a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display with at least 5 finger gesture support. Under its hood, there will be a MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with Mali-T880 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The handset will run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

On the camera optics, the Sony Pikachu will offer a 21MP autofocus primary rear camera with LED flash. Also, it will have an 8MP front facing camera for selfies and video calling. The rear camera on the device will support features such as HDR, touch focus, face detection, and autofocus. The connectivity options on device will include Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and NFC. The sensors on board will comprise accelerometer, proximity, and light sensor.

Sony has not put a word about the Pikachu smartphone as of now; hence, the smartphone could get launch at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 event in Barcelona. Since the MWC is not so far off now, the detailed specifications of the Sony Pikachu is expected to receive very soon.

The Sony Xperia smartphones with model number G3121 and G3112 were recently spotted by XperiaBlog via a user-agent profile. As per reports, the Sony G3112 might be the Sony Pikachu as both devices are rumoured to boast MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz.  The Helio P20 chipset comprises a 2.3GHz quad-core and 1.6GHz quad-core chips paired with Mali T880 GPU.

The leaked UPA document revealed that the Sony G3112 smartphone will feature a HD (720×1280 pixels) display, whereas the G3221 will offer a full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. Apparently, the Sony G3112 with 720p display will be an affordable smartphone while the G3221 will be slightly pricier due to its 1080p display resolution.
