Nokia has launched its first smartphone that runs on the Android Go Edition in India. The smartphone named as Nokia 1 was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year. This is one of the smartphones to debut with the Android Oreo Go edition in the country. Moreover, the company claims that the Android Go edition will provide users with an optimised experience in budget smartphones below Rs. 10,000.
Nokia’s latest budget smartphone features a lot of apps such as Google Maps Go, Gmail Go and Google apps and services in their lightweight versions. Another interesting highlight of this smartphone is the ability to use Xpress On two-tone polycarbonate exchangeable covers. It allows users to personalize the look of their smartphone.
Nokia 1: Price & Availability
Nokia’s latest smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs. 5,499 and is available across various stores in the country. The smartphone will be made available in Dark Blue and Warm Red colour options. Additionally, the Xpress On covers come with a price tag of Rs. 450 and will be made available in Grey, Azure, Pink and Yellow colour variants.
Also, Reliance Jio is offering a cashback worth Rs. 2,200 which brings down the price of the phone to Rs. 3,299. With this offer, users will also be able to avail an extra 60GB of data. In addition to that, users will also get 12-month accidental damage insurance and a 20 percent discount on the first RedBus booking on the purchase of this smartphone.
Nokia 1: Specifications & Features
The Nokia 1 smartphone features a 4.5-inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 480×854 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM. The phone supports dual-SIM (nano) and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition.
As for the optics on the smartphone, the rear panel features a 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a fixed focus lens. The front panel houses a 2-megapixel secondary camera with fixed focus. Furthermore, the smartphone is fuelled by a 2150mAh battery which can deliver 9 hours of talk time and can last for 15 days in standby mode.
Furthermore, connectivity features on this smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.2, 4G VoLTE, Micro-USB, GPS/ A-GPS, FM Radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. Sensors on this smartphone include an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and accelerometer.
