The Indian smartphone maker, Lava has recently announced the release of its X28 smartphone in India. The budget mobile phone is priced at Rs 7,349 and it will be available for sale in retail stores across the country in Gold, Coffee, and Silver color options.
The Lava X28 features a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display. The smartphone is claimed to feature 67 percent screen-to-body ratio. The device runs on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that supports 4G network on one SIM at a time. In addition, the smartphone also supports 4G VoLTE.
The Lava X28 is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. The device supports expandable storage up to 32GB with the help of microSD card. Under the hood, there is a 2600mAh battery that supports the power saver mode.
The budget phone offers an 8MP primary rear camera with LED flash and autofocus features alongside a 2MP selfie camera with LED flash. The rear camera features the special modes like full HD video recording, slow motion video recording, Face beauty, and time-lapse.
The Lava X28 supports FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 5 (850MHz) and TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz) 4G LTE bands in India. Moreover, the device supports VoLTE with HD voice calling compatibility which is unusual in budget mobile phone segment.
Lava X28 features support for 12 Indian languages with Transliteration function which translates English text to any native language and vice-versa. The connectivity option includes, 4G VoLTE, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, FM Radio, microUSB, Wi-Fi with hotspot tethering, and GPS. The smartphone is eligible for 1-year manufacturer warranty.
In addition, the company has recently announced the one-time screen replacement offer on the festive season which is valid for the duration of 1 year from the date of purchase. The offer is applicable for the purchase of Lava smartphone and feature phones purchased in between September 15 to November 15.
At the price-point of Rs 7,349, the Lava X28 isn’t expensive but the budget mobile phone segment is already dominated by Chinese brands like Motorola mobiles, Lenovo mobiles, and Xiaomi mobiles. Hence the smartphone will face a tough competition with others.
