Kindle Oasis: Hardware
It is worth mentioning that it is the second edition of the Kindle Oasis e-reader. The original Oasis reader was priced at $290 (roughly Rs 18,500), whereas the new 2017 edition costs $250 (roughly Rs 16,000). The new model has a larger screen, utilizes a metal case, and improved design. There is a 3.4mm edge on the device which has capacitive buttons for navigation. And you can easily hold the Kindle Oasis in one hand thanks to the edge.
The 7-inch screen of the device offers 300ppi resolution and backlighting of 12 LEDs. Though, the bigger screen has taken the weight of the device to 194 grams. It has a powerful battery which gives up to 5-6 weeks of reading time on a single charge. Most of the readers prefer reading e-books on tablets; however, no tablet can provide you with that much of battery life.

Unfortunately, the company doesn’t offer the case alongside the e-reader. That means you will have to purchase it separately. Probably that’s why the price of the device is relatively lower than the last Oasis model.
The Kindle Oasis has an IPX8 rating which ensures water resistance up to 2 meters in freshwater for 60 minutes.
Amazon Kindle Oasis: User Experience
The bigger screen size of the new Oasis really provides you with an all-new experience. The 300ppi pixel density provides ease while reading. The text has more room to spread thanks to the 7-inch screen. The page shifting is a bit faster; just a fraction of a second faster, still its improvement. Apart from this, the text on the device looks similar to the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite model. Even though, the additional LED backlighting provides more brightness than before.
The built-in Audible support of Kindle Oasis allows you to listen to audiobooks instead of reading them. Still, you have to connect a Bluetooth speaker or headphones to listen.
Conclusion
Again, Amazon has brought us a premium Kindle option which can be a rejoicing for the lucky few. Yes, it is expensive, but the reading experience you will get on the new Oasis model is unmatched. In addition, the new Oasis model is relatively cheaper than the previous model. It has some amazing features which are exclusive to Kindle Oasis; that means, you won’t get these features on any other Kindle model.
So, if you have enough budget to spend on an e-book reader, the Amazon Kindle Oasis is the perfect deal for you. For everyone else, the Kindle Paperwhite can serve the same reading pleasure with fewer features.
