Gionee mobiles has released its much-rumored M2017 premium smartphone at a price of CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs 68,400) in China. The company has not described whether it will market the new Gionee M2017 smartphone in other regions or it will just be a China-exclusive device. Another version of the device is priced at CNY 16,999 (1,66,000) which is adorned with Italian custom alligator leather pack panel.
The Gionee M2017 smartphone is now available for pre-orders in China, however, the company’s website is mentioning the smartphone as ‘Fully Booked’. The smartphone is touted for its massive battery capacity, but it also packs various other interesting features as well. The M2017 has dual 3500mAh battery inside which totals at 7000mAh capacity. It also comes with Quick Charge 3.0. The company claims that the smartphone can deliver a video playback of up to 25.89 hours and 915.42 hours of standby time.
The idea behind two batteries in a smartphone is clever and practical. Moreover, the company has provided support for Quick Charge 3.0 to fully charge the large batteries in short time.
Coming to the specifications, the Gionee M2017 features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) AMOLED display with sapphire glass and curved edges. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor paired with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone runs on Amigo 3.5 UI based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
For photography, the Gionee M2017 offers dual-camera setup of 12MP and 13MP sensors at the rear panel, with 2X optical and 8X digital zoom capabilities. Up front, it has an 8MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfies. The device is available in 128GB internal storage option and there is no microSD cards slot on the device.
The Gionee M2017 features a fingerprint scanner at the front panel which ensures advanced security features. It has a textured rear panel for a premium feel. The connectivity options on the device include 4G, Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi. The smartphone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack; instead, it features USB Type-C port. The Gionee M2017 is available in Gold and Black color options.
