We have seen a phase where every telecom operator was trying to offer fastest and cheapest 4G data plans in India. The cheapest data plan war was initiated by Reliance Jio when it launched its services in India. The telecom giant offered a handful of freebies to allure early customers towards its network. The best part of Reliance Jio services was the free lifetime voice calling feature. Many of us considered Reliance Jio to be the sole and the best VoLTE service provider in India; but, this isn’t the situation now.
In past few months, the major telecom service providers have shown their interest in 4G VoLTE services. The popularity of 4G VoLTE smartphones in India has increased exponentially since 2017. Many telecom operators have already started rolling out their VoLTE services in India. Vodafone has rolled out its VoLTE services in India earlier in March this year. The company is initially offering its VoLTE services in Gujrat and it will be soon rolled out in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Karnataka circles.
Also, Bharti Airtel announced its plans to start the VoLTE services in select parts of the country. The company is presently offering its VoLTE services in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana circles.
Separately, Idea Cellular is said to have launched its VoLTE services for their employees from March 1. The Idea VoLTE services are initially available for its employees only and are expected to be launched commercially in coming months. That means Idea will soon join the battle of emerging as the best VoLTE service provider in India.
Who’s the best VoLTE service provider in India?
As of now, only Reliance Jio is offering its VoLTE services across India. The other telecom operators have tested their VoLTE services in select regions and rolled out the services in select circles. So, Reliance Jio has an edge over the other competitors in terms of penetration. Last year in October, Reliance Jio was reported to be the top 4G network provider; while, Airtel crowned as the fastest 4G service provider.
Presently, Reliance Jio, Vodafone and Airtel are not charging their subscribers for the calls made on VoLTE network. However, Vodafone, Airtel and Idea have just started offering their VoLTE services. So, it will not be the right time to conclude on which is the best VoLTE service provider in India. By the end of this year, we will be able to witness a significant improvement in voice calling experience.
