Modular phones are the latest trend in the smartphone industry but not every company has been successful in making a good modular Smartphone, LG failed miserably with the LG G5 while Moto was quite successful with the Moto Z line up of devices and to refresh that line up for 2017 Moto will soon launch the Moto Z2, Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play. All three phones just like last year will be modular and come with Moto mods and will also support last year’s Moto mods.
Starting off with the Moto Z2 Play, the smartphone sports almost similar design to the last years Moto Z play. Just one exception, the home button this time around is more circular shape than the square. We have already seen this kind of button the mid-range Moto G and G5 Plus.
There is no word about specification of the phone but last year’s Moto Z Play had a 5.5-inch FHD display. Processor will be Snapdragon 625 under the hood along with 3GB of RAM. We can safely assume that the Moto Z2 Play will also have at least a full-HD display with Snapdragon 660 under the hood along with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. In a latest development, the Moto Z2 Play is confirmed to boast a 3000mAh non-removable battery. Lenovo has confirmed the battery specification in a tweet

Moto Z2 also looks quite similar to the Moto Z2 Play with the circular home button. But, the Moto Z2 has a 2.5D curved glass display. From the leaked images we can also see that a front-facing flash is present on the device. The volume buttons along with the power button are placed to the right of the device. The Moto branding has been moved from the bottom of the device to the top as well
The Moto Z2 will supposedly run Snapdragon 835 paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, although we cannot confirm these specifications we can safely assume the Z2 to house these. There will be a 5.5-inch display up top with a QHD display.
Finally the Moto Z2 Force, the most premium of the lineup is expected to have a dual camera set up at the back of the phone unlike the Moto Z2 or the Z2 Play. It will follow the same design language of the other phones and will be heavier and bulkier.
The dual camera will have an RGB sensor and a Monochrome sensor working in tandem to capture more detail and better colour we have previously seen this on phones by Huawei. The Moto Z2 Force too will have the Snapdragon 835 and will have a shatter proof display. It will have 4GB of RAM underneath and will run Android 7.1.1 nougat out of the box.
All the Moto Z devices were made of glass. All Moto Z2 devices seem to be made of metal. It will be interesting to see how well received they will be by the consumers.
All the Moto Z devices are set to launch somewhere in June. Last year Motorola didn’t launch the Moto Z force in India so only time will tell India will receive the Moto Z2 force or not. All the Moto Z2 devices will be priced between $400 to $700.
