Apple Inc. has announced its much awaited iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a press event held at Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco. Both the smartphones will be available for sale starting September 16, 2016, in the US. The devices will be launched in India later on October 7. The company has priced the new iPhone 7 starting from Rs. 60,000 for 32GB model while there is no word on other models of the device yet.
When it comes to iPhone India launch, the biggest questions always revolve around its price. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus has retained its price in the US markets from its predecessor iPhone 6s series.
The pricing of iPhone 7 starts at $649 which roughly indicates Rs. 43,000 while the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $749 which roughly indicates Rs. 49,900 on conversion.
Apple has ditched its 16GB and 64GB storage variants in latest iPhone and brought 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants in iPhone 7 models. So technically, the pricing is relatively similar to the previous iPhones and you would figure out that the latest iPhone is cheaper than its predecessor.
But unfortunately, in India, the Apple iPhone devices will still be expensive as the company imposes the dollar vs rupee depreciation buffer rate for its India pricing. And hence the dollar price conversation and India price tag differ.
Coming to specifications, the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus features 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD display respectively. Both devices are powered by latest A10 Fusion chipset which is claimed to be 40x faster than its preceding A9 chipset found on iPhone 6s series. The A10 Fusion chipset by Apple is a 64-bit quad-core processor which is promised to deliver console level gaming experience on its latest devices.
