Xiaomi mobiles has launched its latest phone in the Mi series named as Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus at an event in Beijing, China. The Mi 5s is the successor to the Mi 5 smartphone while the Mi 5s Plus features a dual-camera setup at the rear panel. The latest mobiles from Xiaomi are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 SoC.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s is offered in two variants based on memory- 3GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 20,000) and 4GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage priced at CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 22,900). On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus is also offered in two variants- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 22,900) and 6GB RAM + 128GB of storage priced at CNY 2,599 (approximately Rs. 26,000).
Both smartphones are offered in four color options to choose from- Silver , Gold, White and Rose Gold. The latest mobiles will be available for sale from September 29 via flash sale model in China. Both the devices are expected to enter Indian market soon.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s sports a 5.15-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The display comes with NTSC 95 percent color gamut along with the brightness of 600nits. The company claims that the device’s display includes 16 ultra-bright LED lights which help in brightness boost up. The device offers a 12MP primary rear camera with Sony’s IMX 378 sensor with an aperture at f/2.0. The Mi 5s bears a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC clocked at 2.15GHz.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus flaunts a 5.7-inch full HD display with NTSC 94 percent color gamut and 550nits of brightness. The Mi 5s Plus smartphone is equipped with a dual camera setup of 13MP+13MP Sony camera sensors with an aperture at f/2.2. The camera does support monochrome mode as well. The Mi 5s Plus bears a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 2.35GHz.
Both smartphones have a metal unibody design. The Mi 5s is smaller in display size when compared with Mi 5s Plus. The rumored ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is present on the display of Mi 5s. The company claims that the device could identify user’s fingerprint in a split-second. Users will have to apply pressure on the glass of the display and the device will recognize the user precisely.
