Earlier in February this year, Sony had launched its Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphone. Now the company has added another smartphone to its Xperia XZ2 series. The new smartphone called Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium comes with upgraded features such as Motion Eye dual camera setup, 4K HDR Triluminos display, an IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance and much more.
Similarly, like the name suggests, the Xperia XZ2 Premium is a true premium version of its predecessors. The smartphone will compete with like of Huawei P20 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Apple iPhone X. On the design end, the smartphone is pretty similar to the previous two smartphones that had launched earlier this year.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium: Specifications
The smartphone comes with a 5.8-inch 4K HDR Triluminos display with a screen resolution of 2160×3840 pixels. The 4K display is the highest resolution screen that has been seen on a smartphone. Also, the display is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The rear panel of the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact sports a mirror-like finish.
Under the hood, the smartphone is fuelled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 6GB of RAM. For storage, the phone features 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 400GB). It is further powered by a strong 3540mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging. This latest Sony smartphone supports dual-SIM and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Additionally, as for the camera specifications, the smartphone features a Motion Eye dual rear camera setup with one 19-megapixel camera with a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor, 1.22-micron pixels a f/1.8 aperture. It also includes one 12-megapixel black and white camera with the identical Exmor RS sensor, 1.55-micron pixels and a f/1.6 aperture.
For better imaging in low-light situations, the smartphone features large sized dual sensors and dedicated AUBE fusion image signal processor. Moreover, another key feature of the camera is the memory-stacked image sensor which reduces noise and helps native processing. The rear camera shoots super slow-motion videos at 960fps in Full HD. It also supports HDR effect, Bokeh, 5-axis image stabilisation, monochrome effect and predictive hybrid autofocus.
Furthermore, the front camera includes a 13-megapixel camera with a 22mm wide-angle lens, 1/3.06-inch Exmore RS sensor and f/2.0 aperture. It further supports ISO 3200 sensitivity for photos, ISO 1600 sensitivity for videos and 5-axis image stabilization.
Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium: Connectivity
As for the connectivity, the smartphone includes options such as Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v5.0, 4G VoLTE, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on the smartphone include a proximity sensor, fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope.
